Since 2017, I’ve traveled to Bali 6 times with 7-11 days length of stay every visit. It’s a business trip with my project mate, Stella. From excited to confused on choosing what to eat, we tried many kind of food in Bali. We ate at famous restaurant, famous cafe, warung-local restaurant, food court and even ordered dinner from Go-Food, Gojek app.

We’ve visited many areas in Bali from Seminyak, Legian, Kuta, Jimbaran, Uluwatu, Ubud, Denpasar, Keramas-Gianyar, and especially Nusa Dua because we always stay in Mercure Nusa Dua. So here is my favorite yummies list in Bali, I almost always revisit this place everytime I went to Bali, yes everytime. Nothing else, only because of I’m so into their food.

1. Sate Babi bawah pohon

- Jl. Dewi Sri IV, Campuhan I, Legian, Kuta

This is Indonesian satay serve with Balinese traditional herbs recipe. Smell so good, tender and chewy in the same time. They moved from Jl. Raya Kuta Br. Abian Base, Kuta or Patih Jelantik (the place is so right under the big tree) to new more proper place Jl. Dewi Sri IV, Campuhan I, Legian, Kuta. Their phone number is 0819-3625-3567.

You can also take away the satay for your loved one, no additional charge for the packaging.

Satay price is Rp 2.500,-

2. Hog Wild with Chef Bruno, Kerobokan

Address:

- Jl. Batu Belig No.41, Kerobokan (no air conditioner, only fan, but comfortable)

When in Bali (for non-Muslim) you must try their non-halal food. Scream for it! Pork ribs, yeah! As I’ve tried 3 famous pork ribs places in Bali, Hog Wild, Wahaha and Naughty Nuri’s. I fell deeply to Hog Wild, and never absence to visit this place every time I went to Bali, sometime me and Stella will visit Hog Wild twice per visit, Yuhuu. We love the tender of the meat and of course because they marinated it so right with their special sauce. And one more thing, I love their spicy sambal (Indoneisa chili sauce), a right match with their special sauce. For the meat, you don't need a knife, you can only use fork or bare hand to eat them, so tender. Best!

3. Gusto Gelato

- Jl. Mertanadi No.46B, Kerobokan (have indoor place with air conditioner)

Island lyfe is tropical lyfe, you sure need refresher for the heat. And this gelato is the answer. Compared with gelato price in Jakarta and considering their size, with the taste also. This Gusto Gelato is the winner of any other gelato I’ve ever tried. Their best flavor is avocado & crispy chocolate.

Pricelist :

Small cup (2 flavours) Rp 25.000,-

Medium cup (3 flavours) Rp 48.000,-

Large cup (4 flavours) Rp 75.000,-

X-Large cup (5 flavours) Rp 140.000,-

Ice cone (2 flavours) Rp 28.000,-

4. Warung Babi Guling Pak Dobil Nusa Dua (Balinese Pork)

- Jl. Srikandi No. 9, Nusa Dua

One of authentic Balinese food is suckling pig. They’ll serve you a plate of rice with a lot of pork topping cooked with different spices, Balinese salad (with coconut, long bean and beansprout) and their lovely super spicy pork broth soup. Yum!

The place is small, no air conditioner, hot, the spicy pork broth make it worse, but the food is worth the every drop of sweat. Yeah!

5. Warung Laota (Hongkong style porridge)

Addresses:

- Warung Laota Jimbaran (most visited by me), By Pass Ngurah Rai 77x-Puri Mumbul Jimbaran Bali +62 851 03069393 (with air conditioner)

- Warung Laota Tuban, Jl. Raya Kuta 530 Tuban Bali, +62 851 00429068 (with air conditioner)

- Warung Laota Sunset Road, Jl. Sunset Road No.88 Kuta Bali, +62 822 47153734 (with air conditioner)

I love to eat their bubur (porridge) for breakfast, brunch, lunch and even dinner. Always ate their Bubur Pelangi Laota (porridge with 7 kinds of seafood) or plain porridge with Sapo Tahu Seafood (stewed seafood with tofu and mushroom in claypot) and Stir-fried Broccoli with Garlic. These 3 dishes are my favorites. Never changes our menu since my first visit here. Recommended.

Additional:

6. Warung Betawi Ahong (for local, not tourism kind of food)

Jl. Raya Kampus Unud, Jimbaran

As I’ve told you in the beginning, we tried many kind of food in many different kind of place. And we got a home sick, we want to eat fried kwetiau, chinese food, mie pangsit. So our friend Jessica, who lives in Bali recommend us to try this place. Yes, warung betawi, its Jakarta’s place. We found our comfort food there, fried kwetiau is our favorite, delicious. There’s also gado-gado (Indonesian salad with peanut sauce), nasi uduk (Indonesian coconut rice), soto mie (Indonesian chicken soup) and many more. So happy to found this place.

Yeah so Yum! ❤
